The brown corundum, commonly known as emery, is a brown artificial corundum prepared by melting and reducing three raw materials of bauxite, carbon material and iron filings in an electric arc furnace. The main chemical composition of brown corundum is AL2O3, its content is 95.00 % -97.00 %, and contains a small amount of Fe, Si, Ti, etc.
Brown corundum has four main application fields, namely, functional ceramics, advanced refractory materials, abrasives and metallurgical raw materials. It is also a necessary material for abrasive abrasives and refractory industries. Because of its good grinding performance, the abrasives made of it are suitable for grinding metals with high tensile strength, such as various general steels, malleable cast irons, and hard bronzes. It has a wide range of applications, low prices, and can also be used to manufacture advanced refractory materials.
