Carborundum is also known as brown corundum. Brown corundum is an artificial abrasive with chemical composition of alumina. Its main materials are bauxite, coal and iron chips. After smelting above 2000 °C in high temperature electric arc furnace, the impurities in bauxite are removed, leaving brown alumina crystal blocks. Therefore, controlling the impurities in brown corundum has a direct impact on the quality performance index of brown corundum. The smelting equipment of brown corundum is divided into fixed furnace and dumping furnace. The alumina content in the brown corundum block will also vary according to different parts in the furnace.
